The Self-directed Support Service supports people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using SDS Option 1 (Direct Payments).
As an organisation we are not the employer but we assist people to recruit staff.
If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the SDS funding and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Service.
Part Time Personal Assistant
- Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour
- Hours: 22 hours per week. Monday and Tuesday – 12pm – 5pm. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 1pm – 5pm
- Location: Dundee – Employer’s home and wider community
Females only need apply as permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
I am a 40-year-old woman who has Multiple Sclerosis and lives in Dundee. I have a great sense of humour and I’m sociable and outgoing. I have a great interest in music also. I use a care assisted wheelchair when out in the community.
Main Duties:
- Support to participate in hobbies and social/leisure activities that I enjoy at home and in the community.
- Minimum assistance with my personal care.
Essential Characteristics:
- Honest, reliable and trustworthy
- Friendly, caring, sensitive/calm and a good sense of humour
- PVG membership will be required.
Desirable Characteristics:
- Driver with access to own car would be preferred.
- Previous experience in care is preferred.

Support Worker
- Rate of pay: £15 per hour
- Hours: Various
Support work needed for an 8-year-old boy who has ASD.
Essential requirements:
- Professional experience in working with young children with complex needs.
- An up-to-date PVG.
- Able to work Flexible shifts.
Desirable Requirements:
Access to a car and able to use for work and have business insurance.
Our son requires a 2-1 level of support. This is due to the challenging behaviour he may present at any time. Duties will include taking him to parks, play areas and to the swimming. Aspects of personal care will be included such as nappy changing, showering/bathing and dressing.
The rota will consist of 2 Saturdays of the month, working 7 hours. There will also be one weekend sleepover per month, starting on a Saturday at 2pm until 2pm on the Sunday. We would rotate this between staff members. Weekdays may be offered during the holiday periods; weekdays will be flexible.

- Rate of Pay: £14ph.
- Location: Dundee
Personal assistant required by disabled woman living in Dundee.
- Weekday support in mornings and afternoons. Includes regular overtime.
- Experience not essential as training will be provided.
- Reliability, consistency, and attention to detail are essential.
- Non-smoker
- Full UK driving licence essential.
Duties include light personal care and hair care, support with medical routines, household duties, and support attending medical appointments.
