The Self-directed Support Service supports people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using SDS Option 1 (Direct Payments).
As an organisation we are not the employer but we assist people to recruit staff.
If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the SDS funding and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Service.
Personal Assistants (2/3 posts available)
- Hours: 6 hours per week (with 1 overnight stay per month)
- Rate of pay: £14 per hour
- Location: Dundee (area tbc)
We are hoping to add two or three experienced PA’s to our team who provide care and support enabling our 11 year old Son to attend activities in the community. He has a diagnosis of Epilepsy (controlled) ASD (Non-verbal) ADHD and other learning difficulties.
We welcome applications from candidates who are fun and active with a positive attitude and approach to work. We would like you to be kind and patient with a caring personality.
You should have a minimum of two years experience and understanding of working with children with Autism and associated behaviours.
- Experience of dealing with Epilepsy/Seizure is desirable however full training will be arranged and delivered by a medical professional.
- Driving licence and own vehicle (with business insurance) desirable also.
- Flexibility is required as there will be a requirement to provide cover during periods of sickness or annual leave.

Support Worker (Females only)
- Hours: 13 hours (weekdays/mornings/afternoons) –
- Rate of pay: £11.50 per hour
- Location: Dundee
I am a 21 year old young male adult with ASD (verbal), ADHD and anxiety. I am looking to be supported in the community – 100% of the work will be based out with the home setting. Applicants must be caring, friendly, reliable, have good time keeping and most importantly like dogs and have a good sense of humour.
Job can be for one person or hours shared between two staff members.
A driving licence is essential (fuel/mileage reimbursement would be provided).
Females only need apply as permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010

Personal Assistant
- Hours: 8 hours per week (worked over two days.)
- Rate of pay: £13 per hour
- Location: Broughty Ferry area
Personal Assistant required for man living in the Broughty Ferry area who has a spinal injury which has resulted in limited mobility. He is looking for a personal assistant who can assist him with maintaining a high level of independence within and outside his home.
Hours of work will be: 8 hours per week worked over two days. Monday and Tuesday one week and Saturday and Sunday the second week. Hours will be 9.30am – 12.30pm and then one hour, either 5pm – 6pm or 9pm – 10pm.
Duties include; assisting with personal care, preparation of meals/cooking, shopping and housework.
You will be joining an already established team so applicants are required to have some flexibility to cover some additional hours when the need arises.
Experience of working in the care sector is essential. Applicants should be reliable with good timekeeping, they should be trustworthy and able to adhere to client confidentiality.
PVG membership is essential.
A driving licence would be useful but not essential.

Personal Assistant
- Hours: 10 hours per week over 4 days.
(Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 4pm – 6.30pm) - Rate of Pay: £12.05 per hour
- Location: Broughty Ferry
Personal assistant required to support 36 year old man who uses single word communication and Makaton. He likes walking and chatting and is very friendly. He likes being outdoors and likes to visit cafes, going to the gym and shopping. Due to his learning disability and autism he needs supervision when out and about.
He is looking for a personal assistant who will accompany him to the gym, going for walks and who will provide support and supervision.
Main duties will include:
- Providing support to enable him to undertake activities that he enjoys;
- Helping him to communicate his needs by taking time to listen and to observe what he is trying to communicate;
- Accompanying him when out shopping or when out and about;
- Assistance with any other reasonable tasks as and when required.
PVG membership is essential.
Driving licence desirable.

Personal Assistant
- Hours: 16 hours per week (additional hours available during holidays)
- Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour
- Location: Brechin
Personal assistant required to join a small team supporting an outgoing, active woman living in Brechin.
The role will involve support with personal care, some light household tasks and regular outings including to the cinema and bingo. The team are encouraged to bring their own initiative and creativity to the role by suggest new activities and opportunities.
The position includes evening and weekend working. The working pattern will be:
8am-9am every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
AND
13 hours on a Saturday or Sunday (alternating)
one full weekend off per month (on these weekends, the 13 hour shift will be on a Friday)
- A driving licence is desirable.
- PVG membership is essential.

Support Worker
Hours: 16 hours per week (Two full days 10-6 willing to be flexible on this) including an extra 8 hours per week
Rate of pay: £10.90 per hour (Permanent position)
Location: Hilltown, Dundee
I am looking for a support assistant to help with daily living routines and someone who can enable me to continue to live independently. I am looking for someone who is kind and of cheery disposition and is comfortable around dual assistant dog.
They must be a non-smoker. Duties include general household chores, assistance with shopping, light personal care tasks, assistance with travel when needed and interests.
Must be able to accompany me on hikes and navigate public transport and undertake light gardening.
