The Self-directed Support Service supports people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using SDS Option 1 (Direct Payments).
As an organisation we are not the employer but we assist people to recruit staff.
If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the SDS funding and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Service.
Personal Assistants x 2
- Hours: 12 hours per week (Mon-Sun).
- Rate of pay: £14 per hour
- Location: Dundee
Two personal assistants required for an outgoing senior female adapting to mobility/eating restrictions and looking for support at home and in the community.
Looking for people who are outgoing, positive, have a good sense of humor, flexible in their approach and tolerant.
Females only need apply as permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Personal Assistants x 2 (Part-time)
- Hours: 17 hours each
- Rate of pay: £13 per hour
I am an active 23-year-old young woman with mild learning difficulties and need help to participate fully and safely in the community, find activities, and meet other like-minded young people. I have a great sense of humour, am very friendly and love to communicate with everyone. I do however need help and encouragement to remain safe and involved in activities.

Personal Assistant/s
Personal assistant/s required to support 37 year old man who uses single word communication and Makaton. He likes walking and chatting and is very friendly. He likes being outdoors and likes to visit cafes, going to the gym and shopping. Due to his learning disability and autism he needs supervision when out and about.
He is looking for personal assistant/s who will accompany him to the gym, going for walks and who will provide support and supervision.
Hours: up to 10 hours are available per week worked on Saturday and Sunday afternoons (hours to be agreed with Employer) and Monday 4pm – 6.30pm approx.
(Applications are also welcome from applicants who cannot commit to the three days but who would be interested in covering one or more of the shifts)
Rate of Pay: £12.05 per hour
Main duties will include:
- Providing support to enable him to undertake activities that he enjoys;
- Helping him to communicate his needs by taking time to listen and to observe what he is trying to communicate;
- Accompanying him when out shopping or when out and about;
- Assistance with any other reasonable tasks as and when required.
PVG membership will be required.
Driving licence desirable.

Personal Assistant
I am a 22 year old woman living at home with my family and I am looking for support with social interaction and activities. I like going for drives, days out, train trips and going to the cinema. I like going to the Playhouse in Edinburgh if there’s a show on that I’d like to see. I also love animals, so visits to the zoo or the deer centre are ideal for me. I love my soft toys and sometimes like to carry them when I go out.
I need support when visiting the hairdressers and I sometimes need support when visiting the nurse at the doctor surgery.
We have a dog so it’s important that you like dogs as some time may be spent at home.
As I can be quiet until I get to know you, I am looking for a personal assistant who is friendly, approachable, reliable, trustworthy and punctual with a good sense of humour.
Successful applicants will require PVG Membership. Previous care experience is essential. A driving licence essential.

15 hours per week, worked over 3 days Monday/Tuesday/Friday but can be flexible.
Hours will include occasional weekend working. £12 per hour.

Personal Assistant

Personal assistant required for a fun loving, 8-year-old boy who enjoys visiting the local parks, visiting the beach, inflatables/ trampolines, and swimming. Looking for a personal assistant to support him to access activities whilst keeping him safe. The young person has a diagnosis of autism, intellectual disability and pica and is pre-verbal. He is very affectionate, loving, full of energy and good fun.
Person Specification:
- Kind, caring and patient whilst being able to maintain boundaries
- Experience working with children with autism and challenging behaviour
- Access to a car
- Hours: 4 hours to be worked on a Sunday per week with an additional 8 hours per month to be worked flexibility within the month during school term times. Hours will be flexible during school holidays
- Rate of Pay: £14 per hour
- Annual leave entitlement
- PVG is essential
