The Self-directed Support Service supports people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using SDS Option 1 (Direct Payments).

As an organisation we are not the employer but we assist people to recruit staff.

If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the SDS funding and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Service.

Personal Assistant (relief)

Hours: Varied (relief)

Rate of Pay: £12.25 per hour

Location: Forfar

Personal Assistants (relief) required for disabled woman living in Forfar to support with health needs, personal care and daily living tasks. Hours may include daytime, evening and weekends.

The personal assistant will work directly with the disabled woman who enjoys various activities such as listening to music, walking, going for a drive in the car and going out in the community.

The successful applicant will need to be patient, be willing to get to know the woman and understand her needs and be able to deal with situations calmly. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities essential as well as good general health, reliability and flexibility. Driving licence preferred.

Relief Personal Carer Assistant

Hours of Work: As and when required to cover annual leave/sickness 

Rate of Pay: £12.50 per hour

Relief Personal Care Assistant required for woman living with partner and two cats in family home in Dundee. Duties will include assisting with personal care, communication and daily living tasks. An ideal candidate should have good verbal communication skills, be physically fit, reliable, a good listener, patient and understanding.  You should also be able to do tasks under instruction, though the ability to use initiative is also required.  It is also essential that you are a ‘cat lover’ and not allergic.  Females only need apply as permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

You will be joining an already established team and must be available to cover through the week if one of the other PA’s are sick or on holiday.

Support Workers (2/3 posts)

  • Hours: Position 1 – 10 hours per week (Mon – Fri) during term time
    Position 2- 10 hours per week (Mon – Fri) during term time
    There is an additional 20 hours available out with term times, we would be looking for individuals who can be available for these additional hours. (Mon – Fri)
  • Rate of pay:  tbc

We are looking for a small team of female staff (2-3 people) to support a young woman at home and within the community. This would involve a close working relationship with her family, support when out in the community and helping her to become more independent.

She is a 20-y old young woman with autism and anxiety. The support would involve befriending her, helping with social tasks but also some personal care.
